Our Faith

As a Church of Christ, we come from the 19th century Restoration Movement that sought Christian unity and faithful simplicity. But what it truly means to be a church of Christ is to be a community centered on Jesus himself—not defined by boundaries but by Jesus, who draws us toward him. He is the one who teaches us what to believe and shows us how to live, so we look to him and follow him in everything we do.

Below are core aspects of our faith, rooted in Scripture and centered on Jesus as we look to, learn from, and follow him together.

We believe in God

To know God, we look to and learn from Jesus, who is the image of the invisible God, the exact representation of God's being. Throughout his life and ministry, Jesus showed us the character of God, spoke about God as a caring Creator and good Father, and promised the presence of the Holy Spirit. When we look to Jesus, we see God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in perfect unity and love.

We seek the Kingdom of God

The Kingdom of God has come near in and through Jesus, who proclaimed and demonstrated the good news of God's loving reign, where God’s will is done just as it is in heaven. Through stories of hidden treasures and small seeds, Jesus taught that the Kingdom is often present in invisible and unexpected ways. Through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus has made the Kingdom available, and he will establish it in full when he returns. We seek the Kingdom above all else by practicing the way of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit through presence, sacrifice, and renewal in our lives and communities.

We dwell in the Story of God

The Bible faithfully tells the story of God who, from creation to new creation, has lovingly pursued humanity through our brokenness and rebellion. The story unfolds through the history of ancient Israel, their prayers and wisdom, the words of the prophets, and it culminates in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, ultimately pointing toward the day of his return when God will make all things new. We read Scripture in the company of the Holy Spirit and one another as we are formed by the story and anticipate its promised finale.

We live as the People of God

The people of God are beloved children of the Father who follow Jesus by walking in the Holy Spirit. Throughout history and across the world, we gather as the church to worship God, remember the story, and proclaim the Kingdom through song, prayer, scripture, baptism, and communion where we love and serve one another as Jesus has loved us. The Spirit forms Jesus’ character in us and empowers us as we extend God's love to our neighbors through acts of compassion and justice that reveal his Kingdom and invite all into his story.
