Plans for fall 2020

As previously announced, we are preparing to resume in-person worship gatherings on Sunday, September 13th. By then it will have been six months since our last in-person worship gathering. We have missed gathering with one another during this time! Just as schools have been deciding between different ways to resume (in-person, remote, hybrid), so have we. We are looking forward to seeing one another face to face again—at the same time, we are mindful that COVID-19 continues to pose a risk, especially to the elderly and immunocompromised. Therefore, we are planning a “hybrid” model for this fall. While we do long to see each other in-person, we want each of you to wisely discern the best way for you to engage this fall. Look below to see our plans and respond to a survey so we know what to expect. It is important for you to respond to the survey so that we can make appropriate plans and precautions. Thank you!

Sunday Worship

On Sunday, September 13th, we will resume in-person weekly worship gatherings at the usual 10:45am. (See below for information about class.)

For those who choose to attend in-person, we will implement the following plans:

  • All members and visitors shall wear face coverings.

  • To the extent possible, social distancing (6 feet) will be practiced between participants.

  • All access to the building will be via the front double doors. The doors will be propped open in order to minimize the need to touch the handles. One door will be designated as entrance and the other door will be designated as exit. (Side entrance will be available for handicap accessibility.)

  • Hand sanitizer will be available in the foyer, in the sanctuary, and in the men’s and women’s restrooms. Please use the sanitizer as you enter and exit the facility.

  • Only the foyer and the main sanctuary will be accessible during the worship event.

  • No more than 2 people at a time may enter restrooms. Hands must be washed after using the restroom.

  • Seating in the sanctuary will be limited to 25% capacity and chairs will be spaced 6 feet apart. (Families who live together may sit closer than 6 feet).

  • Communion shall be available via pre-packaged, self-contained cups.

  • Singing will be limited and, if done, must be done with face masks in place.

  • All participants are asked to self-monitor for COVID symptoms and report any symptoms for contact tracing purposes.

  • If a person has a temperature of 100.4 or higher they should remain home.

  • Physical contact during greetings, e.g. handshakes, hugs, etc., should be avoided.

For those who choose to not yet return in-person, we will provide a video livestream of the worship gathering online.

Online Class

Class will not yet resume in-person gatherings. Instead, we will move our Sunday morning Zoom class to Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. During these gatherings we will connect with each other, discuss a passage of scripture or a topic, and pray together.
